This site is created with the sole purpose of protesting against the Southern Kuala Lumpur Transfer Station (SKLTS) Waste Transfer Station Project in Kampung Bohol, Mukim Petaling, Kuala Lumpur.
WHY WE PROTEST
This site used to be the original location of the controversial Incinerator Project that was relocated to another area back in 2002 :
http://www.usj.com.my/usjXpress/details.php3?table=usjXpress&ID=302Now less than 4 years later, this site is earmarked again for a Waste Transfer Station that will be the transit point for all garbage from South KL
and Selangor before being sent to other dumpsites.
Quote from CyWaste:
Southern Kuala Lumpur Transfer Station (SKLTS) CyEn has been awarded the "Build, Operate and Transfer" (BOT) privatisation of a new solid waste transfer station, known as the “Southern Kuala Lumpur Transfer Station (SKLTS)” at Kampung Bohol, Mukim Petaling, Kuala Lumpur.
Built on a site of approximately 9 ha in size, SKLTS is designed to cater for the management of solid waste for the southern part of Federal Territory of Kuala Lumpur (FTKL) and the state of Selangor for the next 30 years.
SKLTS is designed to achieve operational efficiency, with minimal impacts on the surrounding environment during the development and operation of the facility.

Will this Waste Transfer Station set a precendence for future waste management projects around Bukit Jalil, Bandar Kinrara, Puchong, OUG and Sri Petaling? Will this area be "The Garbage Dustpan of
Selangor and South KL"? Why locate this project in the middle of a densely populated residential area?
Act now before it's too late.
SHOUT YOUR PROTESTS!
Quote from The Star:
CyWaste Sdn Bhd is the waste management arm of CyEn Resources Sdn Bhd whose chief executive officer Daud Ahmad said that so far there had been no complaint or objection. “We held a dialogue with residents from the area in December and they must be satisfied with our answers, which is why there is no objection so far,'' he told a media briefing yesterday.

UPDATE 27/01/2006The meeting with Cywaste held at Teresa's painted a clearer picture of what the Waste Transfer Station (WTS) is all about:
(a) The WTS is planned to cater for solid wastes coming from Southern Kuala Lumpur only and NOT inclusive of the state of Selangor as stated in CyWaste's website.
(b) The WTS proposed will be designed as an enclosed building with the following features:
- noise suppression from machineries operating in the building
- negative pressure in the building to minimise foul air from coming out of the building to surrounding areas
(c) Specialised trucks operated by the WTS is designed to minimise leakage
(d) Truck routes coming in and out of the WTS is proposed to be along Jalan Puchong
(e) There is no more land in KL and this area is supposedly the best area for the WTS to be located.
However, other issues still need better explanations and justifications:
- Trucks NOT operated nor regulated by the WTS bringing garbage into the station might be the source of waste leakage on the roads, carbon monoxide emissions and noise pollution.
- The nearest residential area is approximately 200m away from the WTS
- Will this be the only WTS in this area?
- What happens when the WTS is under maintenance or happens to break down? Will the trucks be left stranded outside the building?
- Traffic along Jalan Puchong will increase with more garbage trucks
- There should be better awareness and education on WTS so that the public will be better informed.
We will wait for more information by CyWaste after today's meeting in the Summit.
